Music

At St. Francis, music is an essential part of the liturgy. Through a wide variety of hymns, service music, instrumental
music, and songs of celebration, both traditional and contemporary, the music at St. Francis aims to proclaim and celebrate the Gospel and to give thanksgiving and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ.
The St. Francis choir sets the tone for worship and expresses the joy of God's presence by singing each Sunday at the 10:45 service, at the 8:30 service on the first Sunday of each month, as well as for special services. On major feast days, guest instrumentalists augment the joyful offerings of the choir. Choir rehearsals are held every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30pm and on Sundays from 9:45 to 10:30 am.
The St. Francis youth choir (ages 6-14) sings several times during the year at the 10:45 services and also at Easter and Christmas. Rehearsals are usually held on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, but for a detailed rehearsal schedule, please contact Dr. Alina Voicu, director of music.
There is a way for everyone to be involved in music at St. Francis! If you are a member desiring to become a part of the church's music ministry, please consider joining the choir, being an occasional or permanent instrumentalist, or working in the music library. Through music, our ministry attempts to help people connect to each other and, more importantly, get closer to God. We truly are inspired by and aim to live out Psalm 100: "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing." All are invited to join us!
